Sustainable Fashion at The Odder Side

Sustainability is more than just a buzzword for us – it’s our philosophy, mission, and daily practice. At The Odder Side, we believe that fashion can be beautiful, functional, and responsible all at once. But what exactly lies behind these words? How do we ensure our clothing is in harmony with nature and supports local communities? This is our story.

Fabrics That Make a Difference

When we choose materials, we prioritize quality and sustainability.

We proudly source certified fabrics such as GOTS, GRS, Lenzing, V-label, BCI, and Oeko-Tex. These certifications ensure that our materials are produced with respect for the environment and the people involved in their creation.

To minimize waste, we use fabric stock and only order what we truly need. At trade shows, we request only essential samples to avoid excess. Any unused fabric samples are donated to fashion design schools, supporting young designers and giving the materials a second life.

Creativity is key for us – we repurpose leftover fabric into additional products, transforming what could have been discarded into something new and useful. We also focus on sourcing recycled materials, like in our Vera t-shirt and our buttons, supporting a circular economy.

Through thoughtful choices in materials and packaging, we aim to have a positive impact on the environment while delivering the quality you can feel when wearing our clothes.

OUR MATERIALS:

TENCEL:

Tencel Lyocell is made from sustainably sourced wood pulp in a closed-loop process, resulting in a biodegradable, recyclable fabric that is soft, drapes beautifully, and naturally resists wrinkling.

LINEN:

Linen is derived from the eco-friendly flax plant, which grows using only rainwater—meaning no artificial irrigation or chemical input—while also improving soil health.

COTTON:

Our cotton and cotton blends provide comfort, breathability, durability, and versatility.

ORGANIC COTTON:

Organic cotton is grown in a way that minimizes environmental impact, offering a soft, hypoallergenic material that supports soil health.

WOOL:

Our wool comes from happy sheep raised on small farms. It offers warmth, breathability, and weather resistance while being naturally biodegradable—making it a sustainable choice.

CUPRO:

Cupro is a biodegradable fabric made from cellulose fibers. It’s known for its softness and elegant drape, providing a breathable, comfortable, and eco-friendly addition to your wardrobe.

Production That Supports People and the Planet

Behind every one of our dresses or sweaters are people – skilled artisans from local workshops. It’s in these family-run businesses that our designs come to life. We make sure that working conditions are fair and that the people involved have every reason to be proud of what they create.

The location of our production matters – by partnering with European manufacturers, we reduce the carbon footprint associated with transportation. Producing in small batches helps us avoid overproduction, which remains a major issue in the fast fashion industry.

Our motto? Quality over quantity, always.

Eco-Friendly Packaging – The Details That Matter

We want every step of your order – from choosing a product to unboxing it – to reflect our values. That’s why our packaging is just as eco-friendly as the clothes inside. We use recycled cardboard boxes, compostable polybags, and FSC-certified paper for labels and tags.

Every element, even something as small as a ribbon or tissue paper, is carefully selected to minimize environmental impact. For us, sustainability isn’t just about big statements – it’s about the little details that make up the bigger picture.

Certifications – Our Promise of Quality

We don’t expect you to take our word for it – that’s why we back it up with international certifications. GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) confirms that our garments are produced according to the highest environmental and social standards. OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 guarantees that our materials are free from harmful chemicals.

The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification ensures that our paper tags and packaging come from responsibly managed forests, while BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) supports sustainable cotton farming practices.

Each of these labels is more than just a formality – it’s our commitment to transparency and responsibility.

At The Odder Side, we believe that every decision – even the smallest one – matters. That’s why we’re constantly searching for new and better solutions, from innovative fabrics to even more eco-friendly production methods. We believe the fashion of the future is circular, where every material gets a second life and waste is minimized to zero.

By choosing our clothes, you're not only embracing style and quality – you're becoming part of a larger movement to protect our planet. Because together, we can reshape the fashion industry and make it more human- and eco-friendly.

Every purchase is a decision that impacts the world. By choosing The Odder Side, you're investing in garments that stand the test of time – both in terms of style and durability.

Our vision? A world where fashion isn’t a burden on the planet, but its ally.
