More Art on Clothes

Fashion has always drawn from the most diverse trends and inspirations, and The Odder Side, as a brand, constantly seeks what is new, fresh, and bold. We find inspiration in art – contemporary, vibrant, full of unexpected accents. Both brand founders inspire us (Justyna even studied art history!) to visit galleries and museums around the world, searching for that special perspective that we then translate into our work. That's why this season, The Odder Side longsleeves feature works by Lee Cameron, an artist who is a master at combining melancholy and humor with a distinctly British character. This very combination of subtle sophistication with urban casualness became the inspiration for creating a guide on how to wear dresses to feel sexy and free – like a work of art that speaks for itself.

Inspired by Contemporary Art

When visiting galleries and exhibitions, we always wonder what makes one work catch the eye while another remains in the shadows. We ask ourselves the same question when designing our clothes – how to create something that simultaneously attracts attention and provides a sense of comfort? In the works of artists like Lee Cameron, we find answers. Cameron plays with the simplicity of forms and the intensity of color, which makes his works not only expressive but also full of lightness. Much like a dress that is meant to be noticeable but not garish – one that accentuates femininity without being overwhelming.

Playing with Form and Cut

In fashion, just as in art, the most interesting aspect is playing with form and cut. At The Odder Side, we love simple, minimalist cuts that become a canvas for personal interpretation. Our dresses often feature open backs or subtly exposed shoulders – delicate details that make every outfit unique. It is this delicate balance that allows you to feel sexy while maintaining complete comfort. After all, just like in art, the most important thing is the balance between what is visible and what remains hidden.

An example here is the simplicity of the Arrow and Mulberry dresses, which despite their loose cut, subtly accentuate feminine shapes. It is in such dresses, which leave room for interpretation, that we feel both cool and at ease.

Color as an Element of Art and Styling

Colors in contemporary art can tell entire stories – minimalist at first glance, yet surprisingly deep. At The Odder Side, we often choose neutral earth tones that serve as a backdrop for individual expression. Warm beiges, grays, brown – these introduce us to the autumn mood, but at the same time offer full freedom. However, this does not mean that we avoid bolder colors. This season, examples include the Shawn sweater, the Rawr dress, or the Sisu shirt.

Dress as a Form of Art

In fashion, as in art, the most important thing are the emotions evoked by a given form. For us, a dress is more than just a piece of fabric – it's a personal space where you can feel like yourself.

What to wear over a dress? That's just the beginning – accessories and layers can completely transform the character of an outfit. Want to add a touch of ease? Reach for our oversized Holy or All In shirt – loosely draped over the shoulders, it will give the outfit an effortless coolness and will work well for both a meeting and a walk around the city. When the temperature drops, we recommend our woolen turtlenecks Reign – you can wear them nonchalantly tied at the waist or thrown over a dress, which will add coziness and an autumn vibe. And if you're aiming for an urban style effect, reach for the Teo jacket or the Riot trench coat – combined with a dress, it will create a bold yet feminine look.

Stories hidden in clothes

For us, fashion is more than just clothes – it’s a way of expressing ourselves. With each collection, we choose cuts, colors, and details that tell a story. A dress can be like a canvas on which you paint your mood and energy every day – sometimes with simple lines, sometimes with bold accents. Inspired by art, we discover how strongly each choice influences our self-confidence and well-being. The Odder Side is a space where fashion meets art, giving women the opportunity to create their own interpretation of style, full of freedom and authenticity.
